Balanced water is the single most important thing you can do for your finish.
The first weeks
Follow your applicator's start-up schedule. Brush with a nylon brush as instructed. Do not drain or heat the pool until advised.
Every week
Test and balance the water (pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, stabiliser, salt if used). Brush walls and floor. Clean the filter.
Keep records
A simple log of readings and treatments helps if anything changes.
Do
- Add chemicals as directed and brush them in
- Keep fertiliser and debris away from the water
Don't
- Over-chlorinate or over-shock
- Fill with soft water during start-up
- Use metal brushes for routine cleaning
Shell and glass
Balanced water keeps shell lustre and glass brightness.
Lueur tiles
Clean the waterline with a soft brush and a cleaner suitable for glass tile.
