From sample to first swim.

Eight steps, done properly. A finish is only as good as its installation. Here is what happens, and why each step matters.

  1. Step 1

    Substrate acceptance

Before anything is mixed, the applicator checks the pool shell, render, bonding and waterproofing. The decorative finish is not the waterproofing layer. Defects are fixed first.

  2. Step 2

    On-site mock-up

A test panel of your chosen finish is made on site and approved by you, wet, in your light. The finished pool is judged against this panel and the physical sample, not against photos.

  3. Step 3

    Mixing

The aggregate blend is mixed with cement, water and the agreed additives to a set formula, batch by batch, so colour stays even across the pool.

  4. Step 4

    Application

The mixed material is applied evenly over the prepared surface, by spray or by hand, to a consistent thickness.

  5. Step 5

    Hand troweling

The applicator trowels the surface by hand to compact it and set the finish for exposure. Fine finishes such as Stellar Blanc and Stellar Noir need extra care around fiber-optic points.

  6. Step 6

    Exposing

At the right moment, the surface is washed or wiped to reveal the quartz, glass and shell and remove excess cement. Timing is everything here.

  7. Step 7

    Acid detailing

After hardening, the surface is cleaned with a suitable acid solution and detailed to remove residue and film, so the materials shine.

  8. Step 8

    Fill and start-up

The pool is filled with clean water in one continuous fill, then the water is balanced and brushed to a start-up schedule. Your applicator hands over the care guide.

Steps and timing can vary with the finish, the weather, the site and the applicator. Exact methods, mixes and times are in the PebbleLux Method Statement, available on request.

Begin with a sample.

Every finish arrives on its own six-sided diamond board. See it wet, in your light, before you choose.
